Our Herbs category brings together plant extracts presented with clear, factual labelling: the botanical name and plant part, the per-capsule amount (mg), any extract ratio or standardisation, capsule format and dietary status (vegan/vegetarian). Products are manufactured in the United Kingdom with reference to GMP standards and include batch identification for traceability. We focus on what’s in each capsule and how it is specified — without unauthorised health promises.

Herbal products vary widely in how they are described. To make comparison easier, we prioritise consistent terminology and plain-English explanations. Where a formula includes vitamins or minerals at meaningful levels, we use the authorised Great Britain wording for those nutrients only, and we state this explicitly on the product page. No disease treatment or prevention claims are made.

What you’ll find here (current examples)

• Ashwagandha KSM-66® — root-only extract of Withania somnifera, 500 mg per capsule, standardised to 5% withanolides; vegetarian capsule; UK-made (GMP). No health claims are made for the botanical.
• Maca Root Extract 556 mg — equivalent to 5000 mg raw root per capsule; vegan capsule; UK-made (GMP). Selected versions include Zinc 1.5 mg (15% NRV). Any authorised functions mentioned apply to zinc only and are clearly attributed.
• Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens) — fruit extract 125 mg at a 20:1 concentration (2500 mg equivalent), with declared fatty acids per capsule; vegan capsule; UK-made (GMP). No health claims are made for the botanical.

Planned and complementary botanicals (specification-first approach)

As our range grows, we will continue to prioritise specification clarity. Prospective additions may include:

• Turmeric extract with a declared % of curcuminoids and full ingredient listing.
• Ginger root extract with gingerols content stated where applicable.
• Milk Thistle with silymarin specification and plant part disclosed.
• Boswellia serrata with the extract ratio and, where relevant, % AKBA indicated.
• Holy Basil (Tulsi) and Ginkgo biloba presented with clear per-capsule mg and standardisation notes (e.g., 24/6 spec for ginkgo where used).

Descriptions will remain factual (botanical identity, part, ratio/standardisation, capsule format, suitability). If the formula includes vitamins/minerals at ≥15% NRV, any statements will refer to those nutrients only, using GB-authorised wording.

Our labelling principles

• Per-capsule amounts — always shown in mg; serving directions appear in a separate “Directions” section.
• Extract ratio / standardisation — indicated where used (e.g., 20:1; or a % of characteristic compounds such as withanolides).
• Plant part — root, fruit, leaf, seed, etc., clearly disclosed.
• Full ingredient list — extract, carriers and excipients, capsule shell (e.g., HPMC) and any allergens are listed.
• Origin & quality — UK-made with GMP reference and batch/EAN for traceability.

Understanding common terms (quick glossary)

• Extract ratio — how much raw plant is used to obtain the extract. A 20:1 ratio means 20 parts raw material yield 1 part extract (e.g., 125 mg extract ≈ 2500 mg raw plant).
• Standardisation — a declared proportion of characteristic compounds (e.g., 5% withanolides). This is a composition statement, not a health claim.
• Per-capsule mg — the actual amount of extract or raw material equivalent in one capsule; helps you compare like-for-like across labels.
• NRV — Nutrient Reference Value (used for vitamins/minerals). NRV does not apply to botanicals unless a nutrient is included.

Formats, suitability & packaging

• Capsule format — we generally use HPMC (vegetarian/vegan) shells unless stated otherwise; suitability is shown on each product.
• Allergens — highlighted in the ingredients list where present (e.g., milk in certain extracts). Please always check the label.
• Letterbox-friendly flat bottles — used where practical to make delivery and storage simpler.

Quality, sourcing & testing

Products are manufactured in the UK with reference to Good Manufacturing Practice. We work with suppliers who provide clear specifications, identity documentation and batch traceability. Where relevant, composition details (e.g., declared fatty acids) are shown on the label for transparency. Routine checks aim to confirm the product matches the specification stated on pack.

Compliance in Great Britain (important note)

In Great Britain there are currently no authorised health claims for most botanicals. Our pages therefore use neutral, product-fact language (botanical identity, plant part, extract ratio/standardisation, per-capsule mg, capsule format, dietary status, origin). If a formula contains vitamins or minerals at ≥15% NRV, any functions described will be the authorised wording for those nutrients only and clearly attributed. Food supplements complement a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle; they are not a substitute.
